During San Diego Comic-Con, HBO released the first official pics at its anticipated new series “Westworld,” starring Anthony Hopkins, Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolso Berdal, Angela Sarafyan and Simon Quarterman.
Based on the 1973 film of the same name, which was directed and written by Michael Crichton, the series is described as “a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.” This show is co-created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, with Nolan helming the pilot episode.
Anthony Hopkins stars as Dr. Robert Ford, the creative director of Westworld, and Jeffrey Wright as Bernard Lowe, who is described as a brilliant and quixotic head of the park’s programming division, who possesses a keen observation of human nature that inspires his work, which is, creating artificial people. Newton will play a character named Maeve Millay, who is described as beautiful and razor-sharp, with a knack for survival – Westworld’s madame whose seen-it-all, a POV that will be challenged
The new series adaptation will be executive produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions along with the late Jerry Weintraub.
