Coming out this week is the one of the most anticipated films of the year, ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,’ which is based on Stieg Larsson’s bestselling novel of the same name.
Directed by David Fincher (‘Seven,’ ‘Fight Club,’ ‘The Social Network’), Henrik Vanger (Christopher Plummer), the uncle of a missing woman, who is convinced it was murder and that the killer is a member of his own tightly knit family, employs a disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) and a tattooed computer hacker Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara) to investigate.
Also included in the film are Stellan Skarsgard, Robin Wright, Max von Sydow, Christopher Plummer, Joely Richardson, Steven Berkoff, David Dencik, Alexandra Daddario, and Goran Visnjic.
For Skarsgard, who plays Martin Vanger, Henrik’s grandnephew, the role gave the Swedish actor the opportunity to film in his hometown. Known for his breakthrough role in Lars Von Trier’s ‘Breaking the Waves,’ Skarsgard most recently starred in ‘Frankie and Alice’ with Halle Berry, Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Thor,’ and Lars Von Trier’s ‘Melancholia,’ in which he got to work with son Alexander. In 2012, he will be featured in Joss Whedon’s upcoming ‘Avengers,’ in which he gets to reprise his character from ‘Thor.’ No matter how big or small the role is, Skarsgard seems to make his mark in these films.
While promoting ‘Dragon Tattoo’ recently in New York, Skarsgard spoke to Blackfilm.com about his role in the film, working with Fincher, and his upcoming projects.
