Deadline is reporting that Emmy-winner Sterling K. Brown and Oscar-nominee Lucas Hedges, Kelvin Harrison Jr. & Taylor Russell are set to star in A24’s “Waves,” director Trey Edward Shults’ follow-up to “It Comes at Night.”

Shults wrote and will direct. “Waves” will start production in Florida next month with the remaining cast being filled out now.

Described as a dramatic musical with a fresh spin, the pic is an energetic, affecting anthem of contemporary teenage life. The film follows two young couples as they navigate the emotional minefield of growing up and falling in love.

The film will be almost entirely synchronized to music, mixing some iconic contemporary songs alongside an original score by Academy-Award winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

“Waves” will be produced by Kevin Turen and Jim Wilson.

Besides his Emmy-winning performance in “This Is Us,” Brown can be currently seen opposite Jodie Foster in “Hotel Artemis” and will appear next in “The Predator” and also recently appeared in “Black Panther.” He also has “The Rhythm Section” coming out next year.

Hedges, who received an Oscar nomination for “Manchester by the Sea,” can be seen next in “Boy Erased,” which Focus is releasing this November. He also has Jonah Hill’s directorial debut, “Mid 90s,” bowing this fall as well. He was most recently seen in two award contenders “Lady Bird” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”

Harrison recently appeared in a number of festival films including Sundance pics “Monster,” “Assassination Nation” and “Monsters and Men,” as well as the SXSW prize-winning film, “Jinn.” His upcoming slate includes “JT Leroy” starring Kristen Stewart and Diane Kruger, Luce with Naomi Watts and Octavia Spencer, and “The Wolf Hour” which also stars Watts.
