Here’s a clip from the documentary “Maya Angelou And Still I Rise,” which will have its World Premiere on Tuesday, January 26th, 2016 at the Sundance Film Festival.
Directed by Bob Hercules and Rita Coburn Whack, the film is the remarkable story of the iconic writer, poet, performer and activist who overcame the Jim Crow south and devastating abuse to become one of our culture’s greatest voices. From her upbringing in the Depression-era South to her swinging soirees with Malcolm X in Ghana to her inaugural speech for President Bill Clinton, we are given special access to interviews with Dr. Angelou whose indelible charm and quick wit make it easy to love her.
The film will have its U.S. television premiere on the “American Masters” series Fall 2016 on PBS.
