It’s been announced that Taraji P. Henson will make host ‘Saturday Night Live‘ on Saturday, April 11.
It will the first time for Oscar nominated actress and the musical guest on the show that evening will be Mumford & Sons, which is their second time on the long-running sketch series.
Henson has been enjoying a good string of events lately with her turn as Cookie on the hottest series on television Empire, which just ended its first season on a high note, averaging 16.5 million viewers. Henson will also be the Celebrity Ambassador for 2015 American Black Film Festival this June.
Celebrating 40 years this year, Henson will be tenth black woman to host. Scandal star Kerry Washington hosted the show in November 2013. Former SNL member Maya Rudolph was the host in February 2012 and before that Gabourey Sidibe hosted in early 2010. Rosario Dawson did it in 2009 while Halle Berry hosted back in 2003. Janet Jackson was in 2004 and Queen Latifah has done it twice, first in 2003 and served as host/musical guest in 2004. Cicely Tyson was the fisrt back in 1979, followed by Oprah Winfrey in 1986.
