Lionsgate To Release Tyler Perry’s ‘The Marriage Counselor’ Next Summer, and ‘We The Peeples’ in 2013by Wilson Morales

Lionsgate has the release dates for two of Tyler Perry‘s produced films, ‘The Marriage Counselor’ and ‘We The Peeples.’
‘The Marriage Counselor’ will be released on July 27, 2012. This marks the first time after 10 films that a Tyler Perry film will be released in the summer season. Most of his films usually opens in the Spring or Fall.
Jurnee Smollett stars as the title character, while Lance Gross, Kim Kardashian, Brandy Norwood, Robbie Jones and Vanessa Williams co-star. Smollett plays a newlywed marriage counselor who gives great relationship advice but finds it difficult to address issues in her own. Gross will play her husband, while Brandy and Kardashian play her co-workers. Jones will play a smooth-talking client with whom she has an affair.
‘The Marriage Counselor,’ based on Perry’s stage play, is the helmer’s 13th Lionsgate production in the last seven years.
‘We The Peeples,’ which isn’t directed or starring Perry, but produced through his 34th Street Films production company, will be released on March 29, 2013.
Written and directed by Tina Gordon Chism, the film stars Kerry Washington, Craig Robinson, and David Alan Grier.
The story follows what happens when a child psychologist (Robinson) surprises his girlfriend (Washington) by showing up at her political family’s annual get-together at their Sag Harbor vacation home only to find them desperately in need of therapy.
Also featured in the film are Diahann Carroll, S. Epatha Merkerson, Kali Hawk, Tyler James Williams, Melvin Van Peebles, and Wade Allain-Marcus.
