Tim Story To Direct Ice Cube As Scrooge in Christmas Movie ‘Humbug’Posted by Wilson Morales

Deadline is reporting that Universal Pictures has acquired a spec script titled Humbug, which has Tim Story directing Ice Cube as Ebeneezer Scrooge in a retelling of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
In the modern version, Cube will play a wealthy real estate mogul shown a path to redemption by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.
Written by Todd R. Jones and Earl Ritchey Jones. Humbug was initially acquired by Relativity Media prior to its filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this year.
The collaboration between Story and Cube goes back to when they worked on the first Barbershop and, most recently, on Ride Along. They have Ride Along 2 coming out in 2016 during Martin Luther King weekend. Cube is set to appear in Barbershop 3, which Malcolm D. Lee is directing and opening on April 15.
Cube is coming off being one of the producers on the blockbuster hit film, Straight Outta Compton, which tells the story of his early days as a member of the rap group N.W.A. The film has grossed nearly $160M to date.
