The female cast for director Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot has been announced and among the chosen were Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), Melissa McCarthy (The Heat, Tammy), Leslie Jones (“Saturday Night Live,” Top Five) and Kate McKinnon (“Saturday Night Live,” Life Partners).
Katie Dippold is writing the script, which is a reboot of director Ivan Reitman’s 1984 comedy classic. The original cast included Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson. Production is set to take place this summer in New York
Wiig’s latest pic “Diary of a Teenage Girl” just premiered at Sundance and she is currently filming the Fox sci-fi pic “The Martian” with Matt Damon. McCarthy will be seen next in Fox’s “Spy.” The two of them worked with Feig on the hit comedy Bridesmaids.
Both McKinnon and Jones can still be seen on “Saturday Night Live.” Jones was also featured in Chris Rock’s Top Five.
Director Paul Feig tweeted a photo today of the cast.
