Tribeca 2014 – Gabriel Luna Talks Intramuralby Wilson Morales
April 24, 2014
Currently playing at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival is Andrew Disney’s Intramural, starring Jake Lacy, Nikki Reed, Kate McKinnon, Beck Bennett, Nick Kocher, Brian McElhaney, Jay Pharaoh, and Gabriel Luna.
There comes a time in every fifth-year senior’s life where they must either accept the impending ‘real world’ of jobs, marriage, and payment plans or shirk that responsibility in favor of playing the most glorious intramural football game your school probably doesn’t really care to see. This full throttle and hilarious send-up of inspirational sports movies harnesses every cliché and overused trope to tell the greatest (and only) intramural sports story of all time.
For Luna, who plays Vinnie, the role offers the Texas native the opportunity for audiences to see more of his comedic talent. Having appeared in films such as Dance with the One and Bernie, Luna currently plays title role of Matador on El Rey Network, the newest channel targeting Latino audiences launched by Robert Rodriguez.
In speaking with Blackfilm.com, Luna talks about his role in Intramural as well as his role in Matador.
