Nate Parker Tribeca Film Festival

Known for his roles in Red Tails, The Secret Life of Bees, The Great Debaters, and Arbitrage, Nate Parker had the dubious pleasure of being featured in two films (About Alex, Every Secret Thing) that recently played at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival.

About Alex 1‘About Alex’ is the story of seven college friends who reunite over a three-day weekend, after one of them attempts suicide. When the friends get together to keep an eye on Alex, the weekend that ensues will renew old crushes and resentments, shine light on bad decisions, and ultimately push friendships and relationships to the brink as the group tries to speculate when the simple life of their college years turned so muddy and complex.

Directed by Jesse Zwick, the film stars Aubrey Plaza, Max Greenfield, Max Minghella, Jason Ritter, Nate Parker, Jane Levy, and Maggie Grace.

In his second film at Tribeca, Parker plays the partner to Elizabeth Banks in ‘Every Secret Thing.’

Nate Parker Every Secret Thing castOne clear summer day in a New York suburb, a baby goes missing from her own front porch. Two young girls serve seven years for the crime and are released into a town that hasn’t fully forgiven or forgotten. Alice (Danielle Macdonald) lives a sheltered life under her mother’s (Diane Lane) watchful eye, while Ronnie (Dakota Fanning) keeps her head down working at a local bagel store. When another child goes missing, Detectives Nancy Porter (Elizabeth Banks) and Kevin Jones (Nate Parker) are called in to investigate the mystery in a community where everyone seems to have a secret. Academy Award-winning documentarian Amy Berg makes her fiction film debut with a haunting, emotional adaptation of Laura Lippman’s acclaimed novel of secrets, loss, and murder.
