Lionsgate has announced that Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween will hit theaters on October 20. This will mark his tenth “Madea” movie.
The first Boo! marked Perry’s return to the screen as star-writer-director after a two year absence and he came back strong, beating Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher: Never Go Back on opening weekend, $28.5M to $22.9M.
With a production cost of $20M, Boo! A Madea Halloween grossed $75M worldwide, making it his second biggest directorial film since 2009’s Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes To Jail, which grossed $90.5M. Perry credited the story’s origin to Chris Rock’s inclusion of a fictitious Madea Halloween movie in his 2014 film “Top Five.”
Perry will write, direct and star in Boo 2! alongside Cassi Davis and Patrice Lovely.
Madea and the gang are back for this hilarious sequel. Madea, Bam (Davis) and Hattie (Lovely) venture to a haunted campground and the group must literally run for their lives when monsters, goblins and the bogeyman are unleashed.
