Vin Diesel Says Samuel L. Jackson Will Return In xXx SequelPosted by Wilson Morales
December 16, 2015
Recently, Vin Diesel announced on his Facebook page that Samuel L. Jackson will reprising his role as NSA Agent Augustus Gibbons in the “xXx” sequel he himself is returning to.
“Excited to work with Sam again… his portrayal of Gibbons was so good… timeless. Welcome to the Xander Zone!”
Diesel starred as leading man Xander Cage in 2002’s XXX, but did not return to its sequel, 2005’s XXX: State of the Union. That film starred Ice Cube as another XXX agent, Darius Stone. Jackson appeared in both films. Diesel also announced that UFC fighter Conor McGregor has joined the cast.
Neal H. Moritz, who produced the first two films as well as the “Furious” films that stars Diesel, is back again as producer.
“State of the Union” did not measure up to the same success that the first film had, only grossing $71M at the box office compared to the $277M that “xXx” took in.
There is no official release date as of yet or whether Sony Pictures, who distributed the first two films, is back on board.
