Ving Rhames

Ving Rhames, the only actor besides Tom Cruise to appear in all four films of the Mission: Impossible franchise, will continue to reprise his role so far as Luther Stickell in Mission: Impossible 5.

Tom Cruise Jeremy Renner

The film’s director, Christopher McQuarrie, tweeted the following: “Welcome back, Mr. Rhames. cc: @TomCruise @simonpegg @Renner4Real #MI5Diary”

Slated for a December 25, 2015 release, Rhames joins Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner as stated in the tweet. Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson has reportedly coveted the lead female role, while Alec Baldwin supposedly has a role in the film as the head of the CIA.

Let’s hope Rhames has a bigger role here than he did in the fourth film, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, which grossed $694.7 million worldwide. Rhames only appeared towards the end of that film, but may have been paid a hefty fee for that uncredited cameo. Back in 2010, while promoting Death Race 2 in 2010Rhames had this to say:

Ving Rhames MI4

I live a very simple life. If I’m supposed to make 7.7 million US dollars and they’re offering me three, I don’t know if that’s going to work. I did the last one for more than three million, there’s no misunderstanding – it’s 7.7 million or no!

In 2013, Rhames was last seen opposite Whoopi Goldberg in the Lifetime original movie A Day Late and a Dollar Short.
