Viola Davis 11Producer Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal) has chosen two-time Academy Award nominee Viola Davis  (Doubt, The Help) to headline a new ABC drama pilot called How To Get Away With Murder.

Written by Peter Nowalk, who’s written several episodes for Rhimes’ hit show Scandal, How To Get Away is described as a sexy, suspense-driven legal thriller that centers on ambitious law students and their brilliant and mysterious criminal defense professor named Professor Annalise Dewitt (Davis) who become entangled in a murder plot that could rock their entire university and change the course of their lives.

shonda 2Produced by ABC Studios and Shondaland (Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers), Nowalk will also serve as an executive producer.

Prior to her thriving film career, Davis previously recurred on Law & Order and The United States Of Tara. She recently wrapped production on Charles Stone III’s indie Lila & Eve opposite Jennifer Lopez, which was produced by Davis’ JuVee Productions shingle and Lifetime Films. She will next seen in the James Brown biopic ‘Get On Up.’
