Paramount Pictures has released two clips to Denis Villeneuve‘s sci-fi drama Arrival, starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Forrest Whitaker.
Based on Ted Chiang’s 1998 novella Story of Your Life, the film will have its world premiere at Venice International Film Festival, followed by a showing at the Toronto International Film Festival and Venice International Film Festival.
When mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team, led by expert linguist Louise Banks, are brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers. To find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.
“She felt real, like somebody I would know and somebody I would like to have a conversation with. Emotionally, the journey she takes in this was devastating to me.” Adams recently said to USA Today, “You can tell she’s been down this road before in helping out the government and it’s turned out poorly. She absolutely needs this, probably more than she knows.”
Renner plays a physics professor paired by the government with Adams’ character to help communicate with the aliens.
The cinematographer is Bradford Young, who worked on Ava DuVernay’s Middle of Nowhere and Selma as well as J. C. Chandor’s A Most Violent Year.
Paramount Pictures will release Arrival in theaters on Nov. 11.
