Annapurna Pictures has released a new video to Detroit, where some of the incredible young ensemble cast including John Boyega, Algee Smith, Jacob Latimore, Malcolm David Kelley, Peyton Alex Smith, Nathan Davis Jr., Joseph David-Jones, and director Kathryn Bigelow talk about their experience working together to bring this gripping story to life.
Directed by Academy Award winning director Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty) from a script written by Mark Boal. Detroit hits theaters on August 4.
Detroit offers a crime drama set against the backdrop of Detroit’s 1967 riots, a gripping story of one of the darkest moments during the civil unrest that rocked Detroit during that summer. The release date will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the riots.
The film stars an ensemble cast comprised of John Boyega, Will Poulter, Algee Smith, Jacob Latimore, Jason Mitchell, Hannah Murray, Kaitlyn Dever, Jack Reynor, Ben O’Toole, Joseph David Jones, Ephraim Sykes, Leon Thomas III, Nathan Davis Jr., Peyton Alex Smith, Malcolm David Kelley, Gbenga Akinnabve, Chris Chalk, Jeremy Strong, Laz Alonzo, Austin Hebert, Miguel Pimentel, Kris Davis, with John Krasinski and Anthony Mackie.
Bigelow is producing the film with Annapurna’s Megan Ellison and Matthew Budman. Mark Boal, who penned the script, and Colin Wilson are also producers with Greg Shapiro executive producing.
