Beech Hill Films and Low Profile Films announced today that production for the heart-warming drama One Last Thing will commence principal photography on April 20, 2016. Acclaimed film and television actor Wendell Pierce (Selma, “Treme,” “The Wire”) is set to star in the film alongside award-winning actress Jurnee Smollett-Bell (“Friday Night Lights,” The Great Debaters).
Writer/director Tim Rouhana will make his directorial debut and will be supported by feature film cinematographer Benji Bakshi (Bone Tomahawk). Alexa L. Fogel and Brendan Mason will produce the film on behalf of Beech Hill Films, in association with Low Profile Films.
One Last Thing tells the story of Dylan Derringer, a lonely dentist in Florida, whose days are filled by work and his solo daily golf game. When he is confronted by a figure from the past bringing news that he has an adult daughter, Lucy, living in Brooklyn, Dylan begins an eventful journey outside of his comfort zone. The film is an odyssey for each character about the true nature of family, and all that comes with it.
“Tim’s understanding of the peaks and valleys of this father daughter relationship is so truthful and compelling, and that it will be brought to life by such laser sharp actors as Jurnee and Wendell is just a gift from the acting gods,” said producer Alexa L. Fogel.
One Last Thing is a surprising, entertaining and heart-warming story of finding something you didn’t know you needed, finding happiness in the people around you and finding an answer to the question: What is family?
Smollett-Bell currently stars as the lead in the critically-acclaimed, John Legend-produced series “Underground.” Pierce will be starring opposite of Kerry Washington in the HBO film “Confirmation” later this April.
