Ashton Sanders, Shameik Moore, Siddiq Saunderson, Marcus Callender, Zolee Griggs<\/strong>, and Erika Alexander<\/strong> have all been cast in Hulu’s 10-episode series, \u201cWu-Tang: An American Saga.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chris Robinson (ATL) will direct and co-executive produce the pilot, reports Variety<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWu-Tang: An American Saga\u201d is inspired by \u201cThe Wu-Tang Manual\u201d and \u201cTao of Wu\u201d, and based on the true story of the Wu-Tang Clan. Set in early \u201990s New York at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic, the show tracks the Clan\u2019s formation. The group was a vision of Bobby Diggs<\/strong>, aka The RZA<\/strong>, who strives to unite a dozen young, black men that are torn between music and crime but eventually rise to become the unlikeliest of American success stories.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The series is created, written, and executive produced by Alex Tse<\/strong>\u2013the writer of the \u201cSuperfly\u201d remake\u2013and The RZA. Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo<\/strong> will also executive produce via Imagine Television, with Wu-Tang member Method Man also executive producing. Fellow Wu-Tang members Ghostface Killa, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, GZA, as well as the Estate of Ol\u2019 Dirty Bastard, will serve as consulting producers on the project. Creative executive James Seidman will oversee the project for Imagine.<\/p>\n

Ashton Sanders as Bobby<\/strong><\/p>\n

Creative and thoughtful underneath a hardened exterior, Bobby Diggs is accustomed to street life but can\u2019t let go of his dreams about music. He\u2019d rather mess with loops and records, but knows he has to step up in order to provide for his family. Having been raised on a farm by his uncle, Bobby has a different outlook on life than his friends and brothers. We\u2019ll come to know him as hip-hop icon The RZA.<\/p>\n

Sanders previously starred in the Oscar-winning film \u201cMoonlight.\u201d He also appeared in recent films like \u201cEqualizer 2\u201d and \u201cNative Son.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shameik Moore as Sha<\/strong><\/p>\n

Down on his luck but would never tell anyone about it, Sha Rader is a gunner for drug dealer Power Grant, a kid who grew up on the streets who now wields a gun without blinking. He\u2019s still got some innocence to him, however, and his friendship with Bobby makes it tough to carry out his orders.<\/p>\n

Moore recently lent his voice to the critcally-acclaimed animated film \u201cSpider-Man: Into the Spiderverse.\u201d He is also known for starring in the Netflix series \u201cThe Get Down\u201d and the feature film \u201cDope.\u201d<\/p>\n

Siddiq Saunderson as Dennis<\/strong><\/p>\n

19 years old but already a man, Dennis \u201cD-Love\u201d Coles is a loving kid who would do anything to protect his friends and family. When he\u2019s not taking care of his two younger brothers while his mom drinks herself to sleep, Dennis serves as the right-hand man to Bobby\u2019s older brother Divine in their increasingly competitive drug dealing business based out of the Stapleton area. Dennis takes his role in Divine\u2019s crew seriously; he\u2019ll step up to any challenge if he feels threatened. But he brings that sense of loyalty to his other relationships, too\u2014and has an untapped talent that will help him grow into the artist Ghostface Killah.<\/p>\n

Saunderson will appear in the upcoming Netflix series \u201cMessiah.\u201d His past credits also include the film \u201cMother\u2019s Milk.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marcus Callender as Power<\/strong><\/p>\n

Quiet and focused to an unsettling degree, Power Grant is the top dog of Park Hill, an area in the projects that he and his gang control as the chief rivals to Divine\u2019s crew in Stapleton.<\/p>\n

Callender previously appeared in the Starz drama series \u201cPower.\u201d His other TV credits include \u201cThe Breaks,\u201d \u201cShades of Blue,\u201d and \u201cEye Candy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Zolee Griggs as Shurrie<\/strong><\/p>\n

Multi-talented and optimistic, Shurrie might be the second-youngest of four, but she\u2019s basically the woman of the house. She\u2019s taught herself how to care for others and take care of any issues around the home, all the while staying focused on school. Shurrie is in a relationship with Dennis that no one can know about.<\/p>\n

Griggs\u2019 recent credits include \u201cBallers,\u201d \u201cAdam Ruins Everything,\u201d and the film \u201cPublic Disturbance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Erika Alexander as Linda<\/strong><\/p>\n

Linda is an overworked mother of four who has been through hell and back. Now rid of her abusive husband, Linda spends most of her time at the rib shop working. She knows her relationship with her children has suffered, but has to put on a brave face and go to work in spite of it<\/p>\n
