The two appeared together in <strong>Lee Daniels&#8217; The Butler<\/strong> as well as <strong>Ava DuVernay<\/strong>&#8216;s Oscar-nominated film, <strong>Selma<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Written by <strong>Emma Needell<\/strong>, Oyelowo will appear in the film along with <strong>Rosario Dawson<\/strong>, This Is Us star <strong>Lonnie Chavis, Amiah Miller<\/strong> (War for the Planet of the Apes ), <strong>Alfred Molina<\/strong> (Vice), and <strong>Maria Bello<\/strong> (History of Violence).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" class=\"lazyload alignright size-medium wp-image-131176\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 300 300'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/The-Water-Man-cast-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The story centers on precocious young boy Gunner (Chavis) who, in order to save his ill mother (Dawson), runs away from home with a local misfit Jo (Miller), to find the legendary figure called the Water Man who has been said to have the power to cheat death. While extremely close to his mother, he and his father Amos (Oyelowo) are forced to learn about each other as Amos goes on the search for his son.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shivani Rawat<\/strong> of ShivHans Pictures is financing the project as well as producing with Oyelowo\u2019s Yoruba Saxon and Oprah Winfrey\u2019s Harpo Films.\u00a0Carla Gardini and Monica Levinson are also producers.<\/p>\n<p><img your spirits,\u201d<\/strong> said Oyelowo. <strong>\u201cI feel blessed to be entrusted with bringing this imaginative and moving story to life.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oyelowo recently starred in <strong>The Cloverfield Paradox, Gringo,<\/strong> and the Blumhouse-produced thriller, <strong>Relive<\/strong>, which debuted at Sundance earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>Upcoming projects includes Sony\u2019s <strong>Peter Rabbit 2<\/strong>, the Doug Liman-helmed sci-fi film, <strong>Chaos Walking<\/strong>, and <strong>Come Away<\/strong>, the fantasy drama in which he stars opposite Angelina
