Today, Director\/Writer\u00a0J.J. Abrams<\/strong> and Producer Kathleen Kennedy<\/strong> were joined by stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran, Oscar Isaac, Billy Dee Williams, Naomi Ackie, Joonas Suotamo<\/strong> and Anthony Daniels<\/strong>, and droids BB-8 and D-0, for a panel discussion at Star Wars<\/i> Celebration in Chicago, moderated by Stephen Colbert<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It was a day of surprises at\u00a0Star Wars<\/i>\u00a0Celebration for the enthusiastic fans in attendance as the title of the final installment of the Skywalker saga was also revealed,\u00a0Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker<\/i>,<\/b>\u00a0and along with\u00a0the first trailer for the film a brand-new teaser poster!<\/p>\n

Abrams revealed that the film doesn\u2019t pick up immediately after \u201cThe Last Jedi\u201d: \u201cSome time has gone by.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis movie, in addition to being the end of three trilogies, it also has to work as its own movie,\u201d<\/strong> Abrams said. \u201cIt\u2019s about this new generation and what they\u2019ve inherited the light and the dark, and asking the question as they face the greatest evil, are they prepared? Are they ready?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Abrams returned to direct \u201cEpisode IX\u201d after kicking off the new trilogy with \u201cThe Force Awakens\u201d and handing the reins to Rian Johnson for \u201cThe Last Jedi.\u201d The main cast of Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Adam Driver is all set to return for the finale of the new trilogy. Keri Russell, Richard E. Grant, and Naomi Ackie will join the \u201cStar Wars\u201d family in the newest film, and Billy Dee Williams will reprise his role as Lando Calrissian. Even though Luke Skywalker seemingly died in \u201cThe Last Jedi,\u201d Mark Hamill is planned to come back for \u201cEpisode IX,\u201d and unreleased footage of Carrie Fisher\u2019s Leia Organa will reportedly be used after the actress died in late 2016<\/p>\n

\u201cStar Wars: Episode IX\u201d hits theaters on Dec. 20.<\/p>\n
