She\u2019s also directed at Chicago\u2019s Steppenwolf Theatre and New York\u2019s Signature Theatre.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cI am happy to be directing this play that brought me so much joy,\u201d<\/strong> Rashad said in a statement. <strong>\u201cIt affirms the importance of theater and its power to touch the human heart.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" class=\"lazyload alignleft size-medium wp-image-131998\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 208 300'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Charles-Randolph-Wright-6-208x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"208\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The play focuses on a socially prominent family named the Clarks, who are struggling with the legacy and pitfalls of their own good fortune. The production will be \u201cInfused with a searing jazz and soul score\u201d and \u201ccelebrates the love and spirit of a family coming to terms with itself,\u201d according to the announcement.<\/p>\n<p>Said the playwright today, <strong>\u201cPart of the inspiration for writing Blue was that I had never seen a family like mine on stage.
