HBO has released new character teasers for Damon Lindelof<\/strong>\u2019s upcoming superhero miniseries Watchmen<\/strong>, where one of them features Academy Award-winning actress Regina King<\/strong> as Angela Abraham. She’s described as\u00a0an African-American female cop. Independent and intelligent, she\u2019s also a realist. She\u2019s married to Cal, with whom she has a daughter and is fiercely protective of them both.<\/p>\n

Set in an alternate history where \u201csuperheroes\u201d are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own. Originally published as a 12-issue miniseries beginning in 1986, Watchmen quickly become one of sequential art\u2019s most acclaimed stories. The original story centers on a murder-mystery before unfolding into a planet-altering conspiracy that ultimately asks where the fine line is drawn between heroes and villains.<\/p>\n

Lindelof had already stated that the series will be an original story with new faces and unknown characters introduced into the universe that he intends to remix.<\/p>\n

The series is made up of an ensemble cast that includes Jeremy Irons<\/strong>\u00a0as an as Adrian Veidt\/ Ozymandias, Regina King<\/strong> (The Leftovers), Don Johnson<\/strong> as Chief Judd Crawford, Louis Gossett Jr.<\/strong> as Old Man, Tim Blake Nelson<\/strong> as Looking Glass, Adelaide Clemens<\/strong> as Pirate Jenny, Andrew Howard<\/strong> as Red Scare, Frances Fisher<\/strong> (Masters of Sex), Jacob Ming-Trent<\/strong> (White Famous), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II<\/strong> (The Handmaid\u2019s Tale), Sara Vickers<\/strong> (The Crown), Tom Mison<\/strong> (Sleepy Hollow), Jean Smart<\/strong> as Agent Blake, and James Wolk<\/strong> (Zoo, Tell Me a Story).<\/p>\n

Lindelof serves as creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer on the Watchmen series, with Tom Spezialy, Stephen Williams<\/strong>, and Joseph Iberti<\/strong> also executive producing. Nicole Kassell<\/strong> will executive produce and direct the pilot. The series comes from Lindelof\u2019s White Rabbit in association with Warner Bros. Television and is based on the DC Comics characters.<\/p>\n
