Currently airing on Sundays on CBS is the second series of God Friended Me starring\u00a0Brandon Micheal Hall, Joe Morton, Violett Beane, Suraj Sharma, & Javicia Leslie<\/strong><\/p>\n

GOD FRIENDED ME is an uplifting drama about an outspoken atheist whose life is turned upside-down when he receives a friend request on social media from \u201cGod\u201d and unwittingly becomes an agent of change in the lives and destinies of others around him. Miles Finer is intelligent, hopeful and optimistic, but he doesn\u2019t believe in God. This puts him at odds with his father, Reverend Arthur Finer, who recently decided to leave his longtime position as a preacher at Harlem\u2019s Trinity Church and propose to his girlfriend, Trish, a music store owner who helped Arthur rekindle his love of jazz. Miles feels he\u2019s found his purpose in life hosting a podcast where he\u2019s free to speak his mind, but that changes when he receives the ultimate friend request.<\/p>\n

After repeated pokes by \u201cGod,\u201d Miles\u2019 curiosity takes over, and he accepts the request and follows the signs to journalist Cara Bloom. Brought together by the God Account, the two find themselves investigating \u201cGod\u2019s\u201d friend suggestions and inadvertently helping others in need. Joining them on their journey are Miles\u2019s supportive sister, Ali, a doctoral psych student by day and bartender by night, and his best friend, Rakesh, a sometime hacker who joins Miles and Cara\u2019s search for the source behind the enigmatic account. Miles is set on getting to the bottom of what he believes is an elaborate hoax, but in the meantime he\u2019ll play along and, in the process, change his life forever.<\/p>\n

Blackfilm.com caught up with Hall as he talked Season 2 and what to expect.<\/p>\n

What’s expected this year?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Brandon Micheal Hall:<\/strong> God and Miles are separated from the first time and he tries to get his podcast back up and running again. There’s also a new character, a woman named Joy (Jessica Lu), who got a friend suggestion from God and there will be some twists and turns throughout the season. We’re going to start off with Karen in Paris and we might see Miles go over there. We’ll see Miles helping Joy with the ways of the God account.<\/p>\n

Will Miles find it difficult going back to his normal life?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Brandon Micheal Hall: <\/strong>In a sense, Miles has put everything else on a backburner. He’s still working on the podcast and\u00a0taking a lot of adjustments, coming back into normal reality. He misses the God account and has to try to move on.<\/p>\n

Throughout the first season, we saw a lot interaction with his family. Are we’re going to get more of that or will this season be more focused on the god squad?<\/p>\n

Brandon Micheal Hall: <\/strong> Oh no, Bryan Wynbrandt and Steven Lilien, who created the show and spent hours and hours crafting what the next episode will be, has given us a procedural light show, but at the same time, we’re hitting on the family aspects. We’ll see more of Arthur and Trish’s relationship and then come back around to relationships with the other characters.<\/p>\n

Why do you think the show has picked up an audience, hence given a second season?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Brandon Micheal Hall: <\/strong>I think the show has picked up an audience because it’s different from every other show on television. It’s positive. It’s uplifting. It gives you a sense of hope. It’s also\u00a0 a mystery. Everyone has the opportunity to go on a ride with these characters and figure who’s working on the God account and that’s exciting.<\/p>\n

In tonight’s episode\u00a0“The Lady — As Miles wonders what the God Account has in store for him, he and Rakesh help Joy (Jessica Lu) with her new friend suggestion, Teddy (Bryan Greenberg), an aspiring self-help guru. Also, Cara follows a God Account-related lead in Paris, and Ali reveals to Arthur that she’s left Harlem Episcopal for a progressive LGBTQ-friendly congregation.<\/p>\n
