Pictures has released the trailer and poster for the feature adaptation of <strong>Lin-Manuel Miranda\u2019<\/strong>s musical<strong> \u201cIn the Heights,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0based on the\u00a0award-winning Broadway musical of the same name. The musical won the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical.<\/p>\n<p>The film stars <strong>Anthony Ramos<\/strong> (Hamilton, A Star is Born), <strong>Corey Hawkin<\/strong>s (Straight Outta Compton) and Golden Globe winner <strong>Jimmy Smits<\/strong> (NYPD Blue), who will be playing the roles of Usnavi de la Vega, Benny and Kevin, respectively. <strong>Olga Merediz<\/strong> (The Place Beyond the Pines), <strong>Gregory Diaz<\/strong> (Broadway\u2019s Matilda),<strong> Leslie Grace<\/strong>, <strong>Melissa Barrera<\/strong> (Vida), <strong>Stephanie Beatriz<\/strong> (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), <strong>Dascha Polanco<\/strong> (Orange Is The New Black), and <strong>Daphne Rubin-Vega<\/strong> (Rent) also star alongside <strong>Marc Anthony<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" class=\"lazyload alignright size-medium wp-image-140285\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 300 200'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/In-The-Heights-ANTHONY-RAMOS-as-Usnavi-and-MELISSA-BARRERA-as-Vanessa-300x200.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The story is set in Washington Heights in New York City and focuses on a bodega owner who is closing his store and retiring to the Dominican Republic after inheriting his grandmother\u2019s fortune.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jon M. Chu<\/strong> (\u201cCrazy Rich Asians\u201d) directs from a script by <strong>Quiara Alegr\u00eda Hudes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Miranda, Anthony Bregman, Mara Jacobs, and Scott Sanders will serve as producers.\u00a0Miranda portrayed the lead role of Usnavi in the Broadway musical, and also wrote the music and lyrics.<\/p>\n<p>Last night Blackfilm.com attended the trailer launch party held at 809 Restaurant and Lounge ((112 Dyckman Street in Washington Heights, New York) where most of the cast along with Chu and Hudes where in attendance. It was filled with music and drinks along with speeches that talk about how the film came about.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RRDvmixbwjA\" width=\"580\"
