They were <strong>Cynthia Erivo<\/strong> (Harriet), who received 2 noms. One for Best Actress and for Best Song, which also netted a nod for <strong>Joshuah Brian Campbell<\/strong>, who co-wrote the song (Stand Up) for the film.<strong> Matthew A. Cherry\u00a0<\/strong>was nominated for directing the animated short film <strong>Hair Love<\/strong>, along with with his producer <strong>Karen\u00a0Rupert Toliver; <\/strong>and\u00a0French director <strong>Ladj Ly<\/strong> received an Oscar nod for Best International Feature Film for <strong>Les Miserables<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" class=\"lazyload alignleft size-medium wp-image-141163\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 300 212'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/2020-Films-with-Black-Talent-300x212.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"212\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There are plenty of films that ALWAYS feature Blacks in prominent roles. It&#8217;s a matter of how they are distributed, marketed and promoted.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a list of at least 50 films that are slated for a 2020 theatrical or streaming release that are either produced, directed by or featuring Black talent in prominent roles.
