\"\"Baby Blue<\/strong> directed by Veteran Actress, Kim Fields<\/strong>, depicts the life-altering world of a first-time mother (portrayed by Shaquita Smith<\/strong>) who gets trapped in a mild-postpartum depression that escalates to a compulsive Postpartum Psychosis. Though she has help with the baby, she faces the brutal consequences of neglecting her own mental health and well-being. Delivering a raw, heart-wrenching look into the vulnerabilities of not only Postpartum Depression but self-neglect and the imminent danger of suffering in silence.<\/p>\n

“It was great working with Kim Fields, she was super nice and pleasant to work with. We both knew we wanted to work on a beautiful piece to help so many women, and that’s what we did.”<\/p>\n

\"\"How was it working under COVID rules?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

“It was challenging, but awesome to know we were safe! Tough times we’re living in, but at least you know you can go home to your family and friends.”<\/p>\n

What films are you looking to play a role in in the future?<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n

“Roles that have substance and draw people in. I’m not too big on what kind of film it should be as long as it’s a dope role to portray.”<\/p>\n

What do you want people to get out of “Baby Blue?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

“I would like them at least to know a lot of women will or have been diagnosed with Postpartum depression. It’s up to us to reveal that it’s normal and that it’s manageable, beatable, and it’s help out there.”<\/p>\n

Baby Blue premieres “July 25th” at 9pm on BET-HER.<\/strong><\/p>\n

BET HER’s<\/strong> short film series is a partnership with Producer Tressa Azarel Smallwood<\/strong>. Baby Blue<\/strong> is one the films in The Couch<\/strong> series and one of four short films on the BET HER<\/strong> platform that uncovers obstacles, complicated circumstances, and relatable narratives for black women.<\/p>\n
