The series, similar to the novel, will capture a&nbsp;saga of power, race, and political intrigue, centered around&nbsp;Victoria Dobbs Overstreet (played by <strong>Nia Long<\/strong>), the mayor of Atlanta. She teams up with a reporter to look into a series of murders, and ends up uncovering a political conspiracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cVictoria Dobbs is a beautifully flawed and complicated character,\u201d Long said today of the timely series in a year of election and division. \u201cI look forward to exploring her journey as a wife, mother and politician.&nbsp;<em><strong>Paper Gods<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;highlights the profound impact Black women have on American politics and the world. Mike, John and Tash are my dream team!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tasha Gray<\/strong>&nbsp;will serve as the showrunner. She said in a statement, \u201cNia and I came together in remembrance of our friend, and my mentor,&nbsp;John Singleton. From that friendship blossomed an opportunity to tell a profound story that\u2019s near to my heart,\u201d which was the&nbsp;<em><strong>Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and Notorious B.I.G.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis project has been a passion of ours for a long time and Nia\u2019s commitment has never wavered,\u201d Sony Pictures TV EVP Drama Development Lauren Stein said. \u201cWhen Tash signed on, it completed this great team.
