\u201cThe One and Only Ivan\u201d is a sweet film based on a true story, that follows the life of Ivan (Sam Rockwell), a gorilla raised in a strip mall circus, and his mission to fulfill the dreams of elephant Stella (Angelina Jolie). This circus is filled with unique and entertaining characters, played by a star studded cast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a mixture of CGI with live action elements, and the movie progresses at a pace that makes it fun for the whole family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strip mall circus has become its own family, and Mack (Bryan Cranston) keeps everyone together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Standout roles include Ram\u00f3n Rodriguez, who plays George, the father of Julia, played by Ariana Greenblatt. George faces extremely difficult decisions in trying to do what\u2019s ultimately the best thing, and also wanting to preserve his employment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ivan is first introduced as a bit of a curmudgeonly character, somewhat over the experience, but baby elephant Ruby (Brooklynn Prince) joins the circus and is instantly drawn to him, never accepting his rejection, (and) eventually winning him over. There\u2019s a huge promise Stella asks of Ivan for Ruby\u2019s sake, and he is motivated to fulfill it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film does lead us through a series of emotional ups & downs, but for the most part, is very lighthearted and incorporates a great message of environmental conservation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Danny Devito is hilarious as Bob the Dog, and Chaka Khan entertains as Henrietta the Chicken. One can only be awed by the cast which also includes Helen Mirren (Snickers the Poodle), and comedian Ron Funches who plays Murphy the Rabbit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adults and children will enjoy the film alike, as it manages to package the sensitive subject of loss along with humor in a very entertaining way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
