Together with AT&T, WarnerMedia and community partners nationwide, Ghetto Film School Film Credits has launched a new program that encourages young people everywhere to express creativity through short film. The Film Challenge is for youth 14-21 years old and they are being asked: What does it feel like to be connected, right now? <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants will need to invent a metaphor that expresses their feelings of connection right now and write a short brief story (no more than 500 words) that has a beginning, middle and end, based on the selected metaphor. Using a smartphone or any device of choice, participants are asked to shoot and submit a short film up to 3 minutes based on their story in any format or genre (including TikToks, animation, documentary, PSA\u2019s, scripted).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of this challenge is to build and shine the light on their skills as a storyteller because storytelling is a powerful tool to RAISE YOUR VOICE, DEFINE A MOMENT and CONNECT COMMUNITIES!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ten finalists will be selected by an industry jury and GFS will award winners with exclusive filmmaker engagements, a virtual premiere showcase, meetings with industry experts, production awards, promotion on social platforms (including across AT&T and WarnerMedia brands) and a $1,000 production award!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe realize that many young people have had summer plans shifted or completely canceled,\u201d said Sharese Bullock-Bailey, chief strategy and partnership officer for Ghetto Film School. \u201cYoung people are digital natives, and they intuitively know how to tell stories. We\u2019re helping them tell those stories better, matching the interest and skill with exposure to the industry and film professionals\u2026 to connect to new careers and opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal for GFS, AT&T and WarnerMedia is to reach at least 10,000 young people through the short film challenge, said Bullock-Bailey, and \u201cwe expect to reach well over that number.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
