AAFCA President and co-founder, Gil Robertson IV<\/strong> recently announced that the African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) will hold its 12th Annual AAFCA Awards <\/strong>honoring outstanding achievement in film on April 7, 2021<\/strong>. Awards will be handed out to winners in the following categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Film<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Director<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Screenplay<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Actor<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Actress<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Supporting Actor<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Supporting Actress<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Breakout Performance<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Animated Film<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Independent Film<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Foreign Film<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Documentary<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Song<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AAFCA Award winners will be announced along with AAFCA\u2019s annual \u201cTop 10\u201d list highlighting the top 10 films of the year and the top 10 television programs of the year on March 8, 2021. The deadline to screen films for the AAFCA membership for awards consideration is March 7, 2021 and voting will take place on March 7, 2021.  Additional honorary awards that will be presented at the 12th Annual AAFCA Awards will be announced later this year including the AAFCA Stanley Kramer Award and the AAFCA Cinema Vanguard Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AAFCA recently held its 2nd Annual AAFCA TV Honors recognizing outstanding achievement in television with great success as a virtual ceremony. \u201cIt is anticipated that in light of the pandemic,\u201d stated AAFCA president and co-founder Gil Robertson IV<\/strong>, \u201cthe AAFCA Awards will also be held as a virtual event, but we\u2019re monitoring the situation closely and can adapt to an in-person or hybrid event if the situation improves.\u201d He added \u201cThere have already been so many worthy films and performances in 2020 — We\u2019re eager to recognize the incredible achievements of the film community during this unprecedented time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
