David Shanks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Writer\/producer J. David Shanks recently signed a multi-year overall deal with AMC Studios. Currently, Shanks is executive producing AMC\u2019s upcoming courtroom drama <em>61st Street<\/em>. Created by BAFTA recipient Peter Moffat (<em>The Night Of<\/em>), the show is being executive produced by Michael B. Jordan along with Alana Mayo from Outlier Society. The show has received a two season order from the network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shanks\u2019 writing resume can speak to his life; he served for the 82nd Airborne and the Chicago Police Department years prior to pursuing writing professionally. These experiences afforded him an authoritative voice while writing for the likes of NBC\u2019s <em>Shades of Blue<\/em>, Fox\u2019s <em>Shots Fired<\/em>, and Netflix\u2019s <em>Seven Seconds<\/em>. The latter earned him an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Writing in A Motion Picture (TV). To add, Shanks has written for seasons one and two of <em>The Chi<\/em>. The writer is bringing more to television, as he just sold a pitch to Overbrook Entertainment with Antoine Fuqua producing the project. He has also penned a pilot for 50 Cent.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On becoming a writer and finding success Shanks says \u201cI spent a lot of time dissatisfied with my life. Everything changed when I was finally tired of being tired and made a CHOICE.
