Larger than life rapper Cardi B. has snagged her first leading role in the movie Assisted Living<\/em>, an upcoming comedy from Paramount. The film is described as a “raucous comedy” with “tremendous heart” that is reminiscent of classic comedies like Mrs. Doubtfire<\/em>, Sister Act<\/em>, and Tootise<\/em>. The movie is based on an original script by This Is Us<\/em> writer Kay Oyegun<\/a> and is reported to have been in a bidding war in spring 2019. The project is being produced by Temple Hill and Stephen Love. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assisted Living<\/em> follows Amber (Cardi B.), a small-time crook who finds herself in over her head when a heist goes wrong. On the run from the cops and her former crew, she struggles to find a hideout. Running out of options, Amber disguises herself as an elderly woman and hides out in the one place no one will look \u2014 her estranged grandmother\u2019s nursing home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardi B. has been featured on the big screen before as she starred alongside Jennifer Lopez, Keke Palmer, and Constance Wu in the 2019 crime-drama Hustlers<\/em>. She can also be seen in Universal’s upcoming film F9<\/em>, an installment of the Fast & Furious<\/em> franchise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardi B. has been gracing TV screens since 2015 when she debuted on VH1’s Love & Hip-Hop. The rapper also starred and added executive producing credits to her belt with Netflix’s music reality series Rhythm & Flow<\/em>, where she gave aspiring rappers a chance at a cash prize along with T.I. and Chance the Rapper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardi B. broke out onto the music scene after quitting Love & Hip-Hop<\/em> to focus on her music career. Shortly after she landed a hit with her first single Bodak Yellow<\/em> which went to the number 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Her 2018 debut album Invasion of Privacy<\/em> went on to be certified triple platinum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
