Once again, The Blackhouse Foundation<\/a><\/strong> curated events of interest to Black creators attending the 2021 Sundance Film Festival<\/strong>. The festival has just wrapped up its first completely virtual year. The Blackhouse Foundation, an organization that helps Black creative voices gain a better foothold in the film and television industry, enjoyed a successful partnership this year with seven full days of programing of interest to Black creators. Virtual events included panel discussions, Q&A\u2019s, entrepreneur discussions, screenings, and virtual parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are some of the highlights from this year\u2019s Blackhouse Foundation Sundance 2021 events.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Facebook: Shorts Directors Roundtable<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An in-depth conversation with the directors behind a selection of Sundance\u2019s hottest Black short films speaking on their paths to Sundance. Directors included:  Kris Bowers<\/strong>, Concerto is a Conversation; Redee Maria OSubu<\/strong>, Dear Philadelphia; Renaldho Pelle<\/strong>, The Fire Next Time and moderator Brickson Diamond<\/strong>,The Blackhouse Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

POC Filmmaker Panel<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A multi-ethnic, multi-racial panel discussion highlighting the 2021 Sundance Film Festival\u2019s Black, Indigenous people of color. Highlighting the importance of unity and authentic representation, panelists included: Alex Gambis<\/strong>, Filmmaker\/Biologist; Debbie Lum<\/strong>, Director\/Producer; Susan Youssef<\/strong>, Wrtier Director; Ciara Lacy<\/strong>, Filmmaker; Carey Williams<\/strong>, Director; Tabitha Jackson<\/strong>, Director, Sundance Film Festival<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OWN: Art of Black Storytelling and Representation<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

OWN president Tina Perry<\/strong> moderated a lively panel discussion along with OWN series showrunners Dee Harris-Lawrence<\/strong> (Peabody Award-winning David Makes Man\u201d) and Anthony Sparks<\/strong> (Image Award-winning \u201cQueen Sugar\u201d) as well as \u201c(In)Visible Portrait\u2019s\u201d filmmaker\/thought-leader, Oge Egbuonu<\/strong>, for an engaging conversation centered on the uniquity of OWN\u2019s prestige programming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accomplished director Lee Daniels <\/strong>(\u201cThe United States vs Billie Holiday\u201d), Andra Day<\/strong>, award-winning singer, actress and star of \u201cThe United States vs Billie Holiday,\u201d producer Jordan Fudge<\/strong>, actress Da\u2019Vine Joy Randolph<\/strong> and moderator, Janaya Future Khan <\/strong>(Black Lives Matter Toronto, Founder), discuss the untold story of Billie Holiday\u2019s activism and her legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Facebook Presents: The Future of Black Stories in a Covid World<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
