Production is scheduled to begin this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 1 1'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/city-girls.jpg\" alt=\"HBO Orders Issa Rae's 'RAP\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-150053\" \/><figcaption>Yung Miami and JT of Rap duo City Girls<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Issa Rae will serve as executive producer along with<em> <\/em>Montrel\u00a0McKay (<em>A Black Lady Sketch Show<\/em>, <em>Road Trippp<\/em>) for\u00a0HOORAE, as well as Jonathan Berry (<em>Insecure<\/em>) and Dave Becky (<em>Master of None<\/em>, <em>Russian Dolls<\/em>) for 3 Arts Entertainment, along with showrunner Syreeta Singleton, with Rae also writing the pilot. Alongside the City Girls as co-executive producers are Kevin &#8220;Coach K&#8221; Lee and Pierre &#8220;P&#8221; Thomas for Quality Control Films and Sara Rastogi for HOORAE. Rae&#8217;s audio content company\u00a0Raedio will handle music supervision for the series.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rae&#8217;s<strong>, <\/strong>HOORAE, is a multi-faceted media company that develops content across mediums and genres in an effort to continue to break boundaries in storytelling and representation.\u00a0HOORAE\u00a0is\u00a0comprised\u00a0of\u00a0HOORAE\u00a0Productions for film, tv and digital; Raedio, the music label\u00a0in partnership with\u00a0Atlantic Records; and ColorCreative,\u00a0its\u00a0management division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Issa Rae is the brains behind the hit HBO series Insecure, which was based off her Youtube series <em>The Misadventures of an Awkward Black Girl<\/em>. In addition to creating impactful content, the multi-hyphenate entertainer has starred in a number of projects outside of Insecure including <em>Little<\/em>, <em>The Photograph<\/em>, and <em>The Lovebirds<\/em>.
