BLACK GIRLS ROCK!<\/a>\u00ae founder and CEO Beverly Bond <\/a>announced a strategic partnership <\/a>with tech giant Microsoft<\/a> to build technology infrastructure and empower more Black girls to become leaders through access to culturally relevant programs, leadership development, and STEM skills. BlackGirlsRock! \u201cIt\u2019s remarkable to be championed by a towering institution like Microsoft to propel the work we\u2019ve been doing at BLACK GIRLS ROCK!\u00ae <\/a>to educate, empower and inspire the next generation,\u201d Bond said in a statement. \u201cThis partnership gives BLACK GIRLS ROCK! <\/a>the support necessary to expand our work to help more girls find their voices, define their truths, and forge the futures they envision.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

One of BGR\u2019s core missions is to mentor, enrich, and educate<\/a> the next generation of young women leaders by providing the tools needed to develop leadership skills, refine critical thinking, and increase civic engagement. Director of Strategic Partnerships for Microsoft, Marcie Nymark, says that Microsoft is committed to empowering women and girls in STEM. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe also recognize the challenges facing women, especially Black women, are complex \u2013 no one organization can solve them all,\u201d Nymark said. \u201cThat\u2019s why we\u2019re excited to partner with Beverly and BLACK GIRLS ROCK! to bring together our efforts to educate and inspire the next generation of innovators.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The partnership will officially kick-off with the launch of the first BLACK GIRLS ROCK!\u00ae Book Club and workshop<\/a> on April 14 at 12pm EST\/9am PST featuring Bond’s book BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Owning Our Magic. Rocking Our Truth!<\/em> and facilitated by BLACK GIRLS ROCK alumna Kathie Duperval. The virtual event is free and open to the public. Followed by their 15-year Anniversary Fundraising Gala in June and annual Leadership Conference in July.  The launch of the BGR! Book Club<\/strong> a new initiative designed to promote community, empowerment, literacy and leadership will engage with each month selecting an inspirational thought-provoking text to read and discuss. The author will join us for a live virtual interview conducted by a BLACK GIRLS ROCK!\u00ae alumna and powered by Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Store will host each book club event which will be followed by an interactive virtual workshop designed for students and inspired by the book’s core themes and motifs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
