Hornitos Tequila<\/strong><\/a> has partnered up with annual screenplay survey, Black List<\/a>, for the 2021 Black List x Hornitos “Take Your Shot” Short Film Program. The program is on a mission to award five emerging filmmakers $15,000 grants to turn their screenplays into proof of concept short films accompanied with mentorship from the Black List. Black List Hornitos Grant<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Take Your Shot” marks a first-of-its-kind collaborative short film grant program between Hornitos and the Black List. The two are joining forces as a continuation of Hornitos’ The Shot Fund<\/a> \u2013 a multi-year, investment platform dedicated to empowering today’s generation of shot-takers, taking shots at trailblazing ventures in their careers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspiration for “The Shot Fund” was inspired by Hornitos contributive track record of enabling change makers from all walks of life, including creators, artists, aspiring entrepreneurs, business owners and fans of the brand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Hornitos Tequila has a history of pushing boundaries for the betterment of tequila, and through our partnership with the Black List, we seek to honor that same innovative spirit while spotlighting some of the most overlooked creatives in film,” said Rashidi Hodari, Managing Director of Tequila<\/strong> at Beam Suntory<\/strong>. “It’s a major step for anyone to develop their writing into a visual film, and that bold chance is something Hornitos aims to encourage, celebrate and make possible.”<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Founder of Black List, Franklin Leonard<\/a>, is a film executive who created the Black List with the purpose of shining a light on untapped talent in Hollywood and beyond. Every year film executives gather a list of their favorite unproduced screenplays to then choose a winner. Past winners have included Juno<\/em>, The King’s Speech<\/em> and Argo<\/em>. In the programs official statement Leonard notes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Hornitos on this program…It’s one thing to encourage filmmakers to make a proof of concept short in the hopes of getting financing for a feature, as we all often hear. It’s quite another to give them the financial resources to do so. Now’s the time, filmmakers: Take your shot. There are grants available for five of you so that you can.”<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
