The kids and family comedy Gordita Chronicles<\/em> has received a series order from HBO Max.\u00a0The series comes from Sony Pictures Television and\u00a0is set to star\u00a0Diana Maria Riva (Man With A Plan<\/em>),\u00a0Juan Javier Cardenas (Snowfall)\u00a0and\u00a0Olivia Goncalves (Scooter McGruder<\/em>). Zoe Saldana<\/a>‘s banner – Cinestar – is producing with Mariel Saldana and Cisely Saldana executive producing for Cinestar Pictures. ‘Gordita Chronicles’ HBO Max<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are thrilled to partner with Zoe, Eva, Josh and Sony Pictures Television to bring to life this beautiful coming-of-age story inspired by Claudia’s personal journey,” said\u00a0Jennifer O’Connell<\/strong>,\u00a0Executive Vice President, Non-Fiction and Live-Action Family Programming, HBO Max<\/strong>. “HBO Max is proud to work with the powerhouse Latinx talent in front of and behind the camera for this series, which we believe will resonate with all families,” added\u00a0Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content, HBO Max.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Gordita Chronicles<\/em> <\/strong>is a\u00a0family comedy about a willful, 12-year-old Dominican\u00a0girl\u00a0who struggles to fit into hedonistic 1980’s Miami as her family pursues the American dream. Olivia Goncalves\u00a0<\/strong>as “Carlota ‘Cucu’ Castelli,” a willful, con\ufb01dent, reluctant Dominican immigrant with a heart of gold. Cucu is overzealous in her quest to regain the queen bee status in her new school, when her parents and older sister move to Miami for her dad’s new job. Eva Longoria directed the pilot and\u00a0will\u00a0serve as executive producer for UnbeliEVAble Entertainment.\u00a0Claudia Forestieri penned the pilot and will serve as\u00a0executive producer.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also starring in Gordita Chronicles<\/a><\/em> are; Diana Maria Riva\u00a0(Dead to Me<\/em>, McFarland, USA<\/em>) as “Adela,” Cucu’s mom.\u00a0Juan Javier\u00a0Cardenas\u00a0as “Victor Castelli,” Cucu’s dad.\u00a0Savannah Nicole Ruiz\u00a0as “Emilia,” Cucu’s older sister. Noah Rico\u00a0(High School Musical: The Musical)<\/em>\u00a0as “Yosmel ‘Yoshy’ Hernandez,” a Cuban refugee and Cucu’s first friend in Miami.\u00a0Cosette Hauer\u00a0as “Ashley,” an optimistic go-getter desperate to \ufb01t in, but nevertheless always sticks out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
