The\u00a0series will offer rising talent access to NBC&#8217;s biggest stage, <a href=\"https:\/\/together.nbcuni.com\/advertising\/oneplatform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">One Platform<\/a>,\u00a0as well as the resources and the mentorship needed to create even more\u00a0impactful\u00a0multicultural stories\u00a0in the future.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This summer, the\u00a0<em>Scene in Color<\/em>\u00a0<em>Film Series\u00a0<\/em>will\u00a0feature\u00a0three incredibly talented emerging Black filmmakers and their work.\u00a0Chicago filmmaker Addison Wright spotlights Black ballerinas who are blending hip-hop with classical pointe\u00a0in <em>Hiplet: Because We Can<\/em>. With her visual poem, &#8220;To the Girl that Looks Like Me,&#8221; activist and filmmaker\u00a0Ewurakua\u00a0Dawson-Amoah\u00a0shows Black women that there is space for them in the media industry. And Brooklyn-based Kristian King&#8217;s <em>Twice As Good<\/em> tells the story of an over-achiever readying to chart her own path &#8211; much like King herself.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0three\u00a0selections are the result of an intensive search through forums\u00a0and\u00a0online\u00a0film\u00a0festivals\u00a0for rising BIPOC talent.\u00a0Each films structure and format differ, however, all exist at the intersection of justice and joy.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>&#8220;Inclusivity is core to the Target&nbsp;brand, and&nbsp;partnering with NBCU to share the stories of the Scene in Color Film Series broadly and boldly helps create a more equitable and representative creative landscape,&#8221;&nbsp;<\/em>said Maurice Cooper,&nbsp;Senior&nbsp;Vice&nbsp;President&nbsp;of&nbsp;Marketing, Target.&nbsp;<em>&#8220;We need the voices of these emerging creators now more than ever, and are proud to invest in their continued mentorship, development, and ingenuity.&#8221;<\/em>&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>All three short films will be made available to audiences all summer across\u00a0NBCU&#8217;s ecosystem &#8211; from linear to digital to streaming &#8211; where viewers can learn more about each filmmaker&#8217;s personal and professional journey. The series is a continuation of NBC&#8217;s partnership with Target, which includes last year&#8217;s &#8220;Stay-In Theater&#8221; family movie nights during the height of the pandemic; all in effort to\u00a0offer audiences\u00a0more inclusive,\u00a0more\u00a0authentic,\u00a0and more\u00a0representative\u00a0content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To spotlight the series further, NBC&#8217;s cable affiliates will air the popular summer movie nights on Bravo, SYFY and USA with 25-35 minutes less commercial time. With the drastically reduced ad time, the network looks to provide an enhanced viewer experience while offering a platform for the\u00a0<em>Scene in Color Film Series<\/em>\u00a0to gain national exposure. Programming will begin tonight during the airing of <em>White House Down<\/em> on SYFY (9pm ET) &#8211;  highlighting the personal and professional journeys of\u00a0Dawson-Amoah, Wright and King through\u00a0docu-style\u00a0custom content where they discuss their short films.
