The fans spoke and Netflix listened. <em>The Upshaws<\/em> is a breath of fresh air with a 90s sitcom vibe, timely expletives, and a unique brand of humor and writing that makes it relatable and interesting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sykes confirmed the renewal with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CQhVXBQJaxE\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a lively IG announcement video<\/a>\u00a0on Thursday featuring fellow cast members dancing and celebrating. She captioned the special post, &#8220;Season \u270c\ud83c\udffe#TheUpshaws @netflix.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SYNOPSIS: Bennie Upshaw (Mike Epps), the head of a Black working class family in Indianapolis, is a charming, well-intentioned mechanic and lifelong mess just trying his best to step up and care for his family \u2014 wife Regina (Kim Fields), their two young daughters (Khali Spraggins, Journey Christine) and firstborn son (Jermelle Simon), the teenage son (Diamond Lyons) he fathered with another woman (Gabrielle Dennis) &#8212; and tolerate his sardonic sister-in-law (Wanda Sykes), all without a blueprint for success.
