Vaughn<\/strong> (&#8220;Insecure,&#8221; &#8220;The Steve Harvey Show&#8221;) have joined the cast of the second season of the romantic anthology drama <strong>&#8220;Cherish the Day,&#8221;<\/strong> from Emmy-winning and Academy Award\u2013nominated creator <strong>Ava DuVernay<\/strong>, ARRAY Filmworks, and Warner Bros. Television. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Roundtree and Vaughn are set for recurring roles. Additionally, <strong>Sheldon Candis <\/strong>(&#8220;Luv&#8221;), <strong>Angel Kristi Williams<\/strong> (&#8220;Really Love&#8221;), and <strong>Merawi Gerima<\/strong> (&#8220;Residue&#8221;) will direct episodes this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Richard Roundtree is set to recur as Mandeville &#8220;MV&#8221; St. James, a proud, loving, wry-humored former judge and widowed father of Sunday (series star Joy Bryant).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Terri J. Vaughn will recur as Anastasia, Ellis&#8217; (series star Henry Simmons) soon-to-be ex-wife and the mother of their children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Cherish the Day&#8221; is an anthology series that chronicles the relationship of one couple, with each episode spanning a single day. In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/2021\/07\/joy-bryant-henry-simmons-to-star-in-season-2-of-owns-cherish-the-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">season two<\/a>, the rekindling of a romance is told \u2014 the love story of Ellis Moran (<strong>Henry Simmons)<\/strong> and Sunday St. James (<strong>Joy Bryant<\/strong>), who fell in love in high school but find themselves reunited in beautiful New Orleans. Ellis is a former basketball player who is now a single father of two, and Sunday is a vegetarian celebrity chef on the cusp of fame. Following its world premiere at the Slamdance Film Festival, &#8220;Residue&#8221; was honored with the festival&#8217;s Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature and the Acting Award for star Obinna Nwachukwu. The film was also awarded Special Mention at the 77th Venice International Film Festival&#8217;s Giornate degli Autori and won the John Cassavetes Award at the 2021 Film Independent Spirit Awards. DuVernay&#8217;s ARRAY also acquired the film under their ARRAY Releasing banner. Gerima is a graduate from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinematic Arts (SCA). He is the son of celebrated Ethiopian filmmaker Haile Gerima, a legendary figure in the L.A.
