Paramount+<\/a> recently announced the premiere of the documentary series \u201cDREAM TEAM: Birth of the Modern Athlete,\u201d now available exclusively in the U.S. on the streaming service. <\/strong>The five-part Paramount+ original documentary series examines the uncensored story of the 1992\u00a0Men\u2019s Olympic Basketball Team and the long-lasting cultural impact of how the once-in-a-lifetime super team changed sports on a global scale forever. DREAM TEAM uses rare archival footage and explores original unheard audio interviews from Michael Jordan<\/strong>, Charles Barkley<\/strong> and Larry Bird<\/strong> among many more, while featuring recent interviews from Dream Team and NBA legends including Magic Johnson<\/strong>, Patrick Ewing<\/strong> and David Robinson <\/strong>among others. The documentary series builds a cultural history of basketball, tracing the evolution of the NBA leading up to the 1992 Olympics and its ensuing growth into the second most popular sport on Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Executive produced and directed by The Malloys<\/strong>, brothers Emmett<\/strong> and Brendan Malloy<\/strong>, of \u201cBiggie: I Got a Story to Tell\u201d and \u201cThe Offseason: Kevin Durant\u201d fame, DREAM TEAM is inspired by Hall-of-Fame sports journalist Jack McCallum<\/strong>\u2019s New York Times Best Selling book \u201cDream Team\u201d, which explores the global growth of the NBA on the heels of the Dream Team\u2019s international success. McCallum serves as a producer and is interviewed throughout the documentary series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe heart of our series is a huge box of micro-cassette tapes we found at veteran SI writer Jack McCallum’s house,\u201d said Emmett and Brendan Malloy. \u201cThose tapes show Barkley, Bird, Magic, and especially Jordan, behind closed doors: intimate and uncensored. They shared things with Jack that they never told anyone else. This series will be the first time those tapes have been heard publicly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0The documentary series is a Paramount<\/a> Television Studios production in association with the NBA, and is executive produced by The Malloys,\u00a0Trevor Engelson<\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cSnowfall\u201d), and\u00a0Douglas Banker<\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cLance\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All five 40-minute episodes of the documentary series are now available on Paramount+. \u201cDREAM TEAM: Birth of the Modern Athlete\u201d is the latest sports documentary to premiere on Paramount+, joining a growing catalogue including \u201cSir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In,\u201d \u201cNWSL Challenge Cup 2020: The Original Bubble,\u201d and \u201cSadio Man\u00e9 – Made in Senegal\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
