He was previously under a three-year overall deal at ABC Studios. Smith recently joined Universal Television\u2019s and NBC\u2019s comedy series\u00a0<em>Kenan<\/em>\u00a0as co-showrunner alongside David Caspe. The Kenan Thompson-fronted comedy is returning for a second season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 1 1'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/AAPtG4f.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-156943\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to taking over from Kenya Barris as co-showrunner of ABC comedy&nbsp;<em>Black-ish<\/em>, he developed a number of projects at the Disney-owned studio, including&nbsp;<em>None of the Above<\/em>, which was ordered to pilot at Freeform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other TV credits include NBC\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Marlon<\/em>, ABC\u2019s<em>&nbsp;Uncle Buck<\/em>&nbsp;and BET\u2019s&nbsp;<em>The Game.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cKenny is one of the most hilarious, collaborative and talented storytellers we know, and we\u2019re thrilled to officially welcome him back to the UTV family,\u201d said Jim Donnelly, EVP, Comedy Development, UTV. \u201cHe elevates every project that he is a part of, and we feel lucky to be teaming up with him during such an exciting time in our business.
