In a groundbreaking departure from traditional film financing, the\u00a0<em>Fresh Kills<\/em>\u00a0production will be financed by an offering on the Upstream Exchange, which today announced a $3.5 million Initial Public Offering \u201cIPO\u201d of securities<sup>1<\/sup>\u00a0by Fresh Kills, Inc. The award-winning actress was motivated to pave a non-traditional financing path to challenge and upend the inequitable systems she has observed and experienced in the entertainment industry.&nbsp;<em>Fresh Kills<\/em>&nbsp;is being produced by Alexis Varouxakis (<em>Good Time<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Pimp<\/em>) and Christine Crokos (<em>Pimp<\/em>). Esposito will also serve as a producer, and Jason Weinberg as executive producer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen I took the concept for&nbsp;<em>Fresh Kills&nbsp;<\/em>to film financiers and distributors, I was told that financial backing depended on having a male lead in the film, as well as a male director, despite the fact that it is the story of women in the mafia world,\u201d said Esposito. \u201cIn addition to lifting up the stories and voices of women, I hope that&nbsp;<em>Fresh Kills<\/em>&nbsp;will become a social movement.
