It carries out this mission by showing films that share the stories and perspectives of people from the diverse countries, languages, and cultures of Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Exploring with a different perspective the identities of the descendants of the African diaspora, Bant\u00fa Mama, from director and producer Ivan Herrera, is a contemporary tale about a different kind of reunion between Africa and the Caribbean.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 306 451'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Afiche_Bantu_Mama_A-27-x-40-695x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Bant\u00fa Mama\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-150850\" width=\"306\" height=\"451\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In Ivan Herrera&#8217;s bold and stylish\u00a0<em>Bant\u00fa Mama<\/em>, a French-Cameroonian woman running from a drug deal gone wrong in the Dominican Republic finds shelter with three young siblings, in the most dangerous district of Santo Domingo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than the story of four individuals who meet against all odds, the French-Cameroonian Emma and the Caribbean kids also share their African origins. The director shows the resilience of his characters despite the difficult conditions in which they live,<em>\u00a0&#8220;with poetry and cinematographic elegance<\/em>,&#8221; as he says. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The film was co-written and co-produced by Dominican director\u00a0<strong>Ivan Herrera<\/strong>\u00a0with French actress\u00a0<strong>Clarisse Albrecht\u00a0<\/strong>who along with young actors\u00a0<strong>Scarlet Reyes<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0Euris Javiel<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Arturo P\u00e9rez<\/strong>, also stars in the film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The film is produced by Point Barre, a Dominican independent film production company.
