The AAFCA statuettes will be handed out to the winners at the 13<sup>th<\/sup> Annual AAFCA Awards ceremony on March 2<sup>nd<\/sup> at the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taking the top honors were <strong>Will Smith, Jennifer Hudson, Corey Hawkins <\/strong>and <strong>Aunjanue Elliis. <\/strong>\u201cKing Richard\u201d took four AAFCA Awards with a Best Actor win for Will Smith, a Best Supporting Actress win for Aunjanue Ellis, Breakout Actor went to Saniyya Sidney for her portrayal of young Venus Williams, and <strong>Reinaldo Marcus Green <\/strong>nabbed the Emerging Director award. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Harder They Fall\u201d took home Best Picture, Best Ensemble, Best Music (<strong>Jeymes Samuel, Kid Cudi, Jay-Z<\/strong>) and Best Director (Jeymes Samuel) honors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other winners included Best Actress Jennifer Hudson (\u201cRespect\u201d), Best Supporting Actor Corey Hawkins (\u201cThe Tragedy of Macbeth\u201d), Best Screenplay (\u201cDon\u2019t Look Up\u201d written by <strong>Adam McKay<\/strong>), \u201cWho We Are\u201d for Best Independent Feature and \u201cSummer of Soul\u201d for Best Documentary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The awards ceremony, celebrating the 13<sup>th<\/sup> Annual AAFCA Award winners, will be held on March 2nd and will follow all COVID protocols with a limited capacity audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 1 1'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/gil-robertson-AAFCA.jpg\" alt=\"AAFCA awards\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-159130\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Gil Roberston, AAFCA president and founder, said: \u201cIt\u2019s been a fantastic year for film,\u201d said Robertson. Just having passed the two-year mark of a global pandemic, great entertainment means more to all of us than ever before.
