{"id":161916,"date":"2022-06-09T01:36:22","date_gmt":"2022-06-09T05:36:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/?p=161916"},"modified":"2022-06-09T01:41:49","modified_gmt":"2022-06-09T05:41:49","slug":"tribeca-fest-celebrates-black-voices-through-curated-juneteenth-selections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/tribeca-fest-celebrates-black-voices-through-curated-juneteenth-selections\/","title":{"rendered":"Tribeca Fest Celebrates Black Voices Through Curated Juneteenth Selections"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Tribeca Festival has rolled out its specially curated&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/tribecafilm.com\/juneteenth\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Juneteenth<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>selections to amplify the richness of Black stories and uplift the voices of Black storytellers across feature and short films, Tribeca Talks, Immersive, Audio Storytelling, Music, and other special events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Black programming will be interwoven throughout the festival leading up to closing night on Juneteenth (Sunday, June 19th) allowing audiences to experience narratives, stories and events that spotlight the Black experience in the US and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Festival will close with the World Premiere of&nbsp;<strong><em>Loudmouth<\/em><\/strong>, a documentary detailing the winding road of&nbsp;<strong>Reverend Al Sharpton<\/strong>\u2019s life story as an iconic American civil rights activist and spiritual leader.<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>After the screening,&nbsp;<strong>Rev. Sharpton&nbsp;<\/strong>will be in conversation with executive producer<strong>&nbsp;John Legend&nbsp;<\/strong>and award-winning filmmaker&nbsp;<strong>Spike Lee<\/strong>, moderated by&nbsp;<strong>Cori Murray, former Deputy Editor at&nbsp;<em>Essence<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cMy pursuit of activism has always been tied to unwavering faith, and it is my firm belief that art and drama can be a powerful form of protest.
