The film stars Brandon Victor Dixon, Naturi Naughton, Orlando Jones, Thomas Sadoski, William Fichtner and Amy Sloan and is executive produced by media mogul Lenard \u201cCharlamagne Tha God\u201d McKelvey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 1 1'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/MARIA_88-1024x558.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-161960\"\/><figcaption>88<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The intense drama centers around Femi Jackson portrayed by <strong>Brandon Victor Dixon<\/strong> (<em>Power<\/em>, <em>She\u2019s Gotta Have It<\/em>, <em>Rent: Live<\/em>), a family man and extremely thorough financial director for One USA, a democratic super PAC (political action committee). One USA is purposed with electing presidential candidate Harold Roundtree (<strong>Orlando Jones<\/strong> of <em>Drumline<\/em>, <em>The Good Lord Bird<\/em>, <em>The Orlando Jones Show<\/em> fame) who is campaigning to be the nations second Black POTUS. Jackson discovers unusual patterns in donations and enlists friend and investment blogger Ira Goldstein (<strong>Thomas Sadoski<\/strong>, known for <em>John Wick<\/em>, <em>Life in Pieces<\/em> and Broadway\u2019s <em>Reckless<\/em>) to dig deeper. Together they uncover an unbelievable conspiracy. New but seasoned One USA Deputy Executive Director Fred Fowlkes (<strong>Michael J. Harney<\/strong>, <em>Orange is the New Black<\/em>, <em>Weeds<\/em>) wants to act upon learning of the conspiracy, while One USA Head Agatha Frost (<strong>Amy Sloan<\/strong>, <em>The Day After Tomorrow<\/em>, <em>The Aviator<\/em>) remains hesitant. Talk show host Ron Holt (<strong>William Fichtner<\/strong>, <em>Mom<\/em>, the film <em>Crash<\/em>), in the meantime, drills Roundtree in a live television interview, pressing him on campaign finance reform, Citizens United, and more. Roundtree is deft at dodging tough questions even in the face of damning evidence. Femi and Ira continue to follow the campaign money trail back to nefarious and racist roots and work to uncover the truth before the presidential primaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Excellent performances from Brandon Victor Dixon as well as Power\u2019s darling Naturi Naughton. I\u2019ve always liked Orlando Jones and felt he was overlooked and underrated. He has matured as an actor and is believable in this role as an unsavory presidential candidate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 1 1'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/88-Still.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-161961\"\/><figcaption>88<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The cinematography of the project has an interesting retro feel with purposefully muted coloring.
