While they think that remaking a film has a built-in fanbase to fill theaters, that same audience either want to see something improved on, not worsen.<\/p>\n<p>That being said, the remake of the 1985 film, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/2011\/05\/fright-night\/\">\u2018Fright Night,\u2019 <\/a>offers nothing new to the genre. Besides being too campy, the film, shown in 3D, lacks any arresting visuals and suspense.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Fright-Night-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" class=\"lazyload alignright size-medium wp-image-12030\" title=\"Fright Night 2\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 300 168'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Fright-Night-2-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Set in Las Vegas, Charley (played by <strong>Anton Yelchin<\/strong>) lives a normal life with his mom (played by <strong>Toni Collette<\/strong>) and cute girlfriend (played by <strong>Imogen Poots<\/strong>).  When his former buddy Ed (played by <strong>Christopher Mintz-Plasse<\/strong>) starts acting weird and stating that vampires exists in the neighborhood because certain people are missing, Charley distances himself from him and his odd behavior.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually Charley notices that his single mom is taking an interest to new neighbor Jerry (played by <strong>Colin Farrell<\/strong>), so he begins to do some investigating his own for his mom\u2019s sake. Before you know it, Charley is surprised from what he discovers and not only is he up against someone who can\u2019t be stopped or killed, but someone who threatens his life and his loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>Through the help of his girlfriend and a so-called expert vampire hunter (played by <strong>David Tennant<\/strong>), Charley may have a chance of escaping Jerry&#8217;s claws, but he will need more than courage and a cross.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Fright-Night-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" class=\"lazyload alignleft size-medium wp-image-12031\" title=\"Fright Night 1\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 300 168'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Fright-Night-1-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While Farrell looks to be having a ball playing the vampire, he\u2019s not at all threatening to the audience. From the moment the film starts, the level of intensity is diminished. Director Craig Gillespie doesn&#8217;t determined if we are supposed to be cringing in fear or laughing out loud. Even a new audience can predict the outcome of a scene before it happens.<\/p>\n<p>From the remake of \u2018Star Trek\u2019 to this film, Yelchin needs to choose wisely if he\u2019s going to continue doing this genre. With his curly hair, he might referred as the &#8220;Weird Al&#8221; Yankovic of films.<\/p>\n<p>What is Toni Collette doing in this film?
