It\u2019s an obvious question that comes up with news that <strong>Bill T. Jones<\/strong>, the director and choreographer, will spend three weeks next month developing \u201c<strong>Super Fly: The Musical<\/strong>\u201d in New York.<\/p>\n<p>Young African-American singers will no doubt be lining up early at Pearl Studios on Monday morning for auditions. The show, which is still in its early stages according to a spokesman, is a theatrical adaptation of the classic 1972 blaxploitation film directed by<strong> Gordon Parks, Jr.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mr. Jones, who has already brought home Tony awards for \u201c<strong>Spring Awakening<\/strong>.\u201d and \u201c<strong>Fela!<\/strong>,\u201d will direct and choreograph. The Mottola Group and the Dodgers are backing the development of the show, which has a book by <strong>Seth Zvi Rosenfeld<\/strong> and music by \u201970s-era soul, funk and R&amp;B artists, including <strong>Curtis Mayfield<\/strong>, who recorded the original film\u2019s famed soundtrack.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second time the creative team has worked on material from \u201cSuper Fly\u201d in New York; <strong>Justin Guarini<\/strong> (\u201cWomen on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown\u201d) was among those participating in the first.<\/p>\n<p>The casting notice for the new audition says the creators are looking for a woman to play Georgia, a 20-something beauty with a fabulous voice who can match the \u201csexuality, fearlessness, and heart\u201d of Priest, the college-educated cocaine dealer at the center of the show.<\/p>\n<p>There is no word yet on when or if a customized Cadillac Eldorado, like the classic \u201cpimpmobile\u201d used in the film, might arrive on Broadway.<\/p>\n<p><object id=\"goldmicvideo\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"580\" height=\"364\" codebase=\"https:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"bgcolor\" value=\"#ffffff\" \/><param name=\"align\" value=\"middle\" \/><param name=\"flashvars\" value=\"xv=20864&amp;xa=0&amp;xr=1\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"https:\/\/www.goldmic.com\/videos\/watch.swf\" \/><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\" \/><param name=\"quality\" value=\"high\" \/><embed id=\"goldmicvideo\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"580\" height=\"364\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goldmic.com\/videos\/watch.swf\" quality=\"high\" wmode=\"transparent\" flashvars=\"xv=20864&amp;xa=0&amp;xr=1\" align=\"middle\" bgcolor=\"#ffffff\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Superfly Coming To Broadway?
