The Broadcast Film Critics Association<\/strong> (BFCA) will present the <\/strong> 17th annual Critics\u2019 Choice Movie Awards<\/strong> ceremony tonight, January 12, 2012 at the Hollywood Palladium. Hosted by Rob Huebel<\/strong> and Paul Scheer<\/strong>, featuring Fitz and The Tantrums<\/strong> as the house band, the show will broadcast live for the fifth year in a row on VH1 at 8:00 PM ET\/PT.<\/p>\n

\u201cHugo\u201d and \u201cThe Artist\u201d<\/strong> each received an impressive 11 nominations for the 17th annual Critics\u2019 Choice Movie Awards, one short of the record 12 nominations for \u201cBlack Swan\u201d last year. Martin Scorsese\u2019s \u201cHugo\u201d garnered nods for Best Picture, Best Young Actor for Asa Butterfield, Best Director for Martin Scorsese, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Editing, Best Costume Design, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound and Best Score. Michel Hazanavicius\u2019 \u201cThe Artist\u201d received nominations for Best Picture, Best Actor for Jean Dujardin, Best Supporting Actress for B\u00e9r\u00e9nice Bejo, Best Acting Ensemble, Best Director for Michel Hazanavicius, Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Editing, Best Costume Design, and Best Score.<\/p>\n

Leonardo DiCaprio<\/strong> and Olivia Harrison<\/strong> will present \u201cHugo<\/strong>\u201d director Martin Scorsese<\/strong> with the Critics\u2019 Choice Music+Film Award<\/a>, in addition to a special musical tribute from Bob Dylan. <\/strong>In addition to the 11 nominations for his film \u201cHugo,\u201d he directed the Best Documentary Feature nominee \u201cGeorge Harrison: Living in the Material World<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also being honored at the 17th<\/sup> annual Critics\u2019 Choice Movie Awards is renowned actor and humanitarian Sean Penn<\/strong>, who will be presented with the fifth annual Joel Siegel Award by George Clooney<\/strong>. Given annually, this special award pays homage to beloved \u201cGood Morning America\u201d film critic and BFCA member Joel Siegel<\/strong>, who lost his long struggle with cancer in June 2007.\u00a0 It seeks to honor those who understand, as Joel did, that the greatest value of celebrity is as an enhanced platform to do good works for others.<\/p>\n

The Critics\u2019 Choice Movie Awards<\/strong> are bestowed annually by the BFCA to honor the finest in cinematic achievement.
